A week ago, Rainer Kempe won the 2017 Caribbean Poker Party $1,100 MILLIONS Open event for $200,000, but not one to rest on his laurels for too long, the German pro has gone and picked up yet another title, this time at the WPT Five Diamond $25,000 High Roller in Vegas for $351,000.
As a result, Kempe now boasts an incredible $11,596,463 in career earnings, with his latest victory helping to propel him past Dominik Nitsche ($11,357,341) to number four on Germany’s All Time Money List. Kempe will now have the other players placed atop the country’s honors list in his sight, namely Ole Schemion ($13,535,871), and Christoph Vogelsang ($15,021,464), although Fedor Holz ($26,633,873) will undoubtedly take some catching.
The WPT Five Diamond $25,000 High Roller was held at the Bellagio, with the one-day tournament attracting 39 entries to create a prize pool of $975,000. Only the top six players would receive a share of the money, though, which in order of elimination was Dan Smith in 6th ($58,500), Brian Green in 5th ($78,000), Justin Bonomo in 4th ($97,500), and Adrian Mateos in 3rd ($156,000).
The heads-up phase then saw Rainer Kempe take on Ben Tollerene for the title, with the German eventually managing to overcome his US opponent to claim the win. Meanwhile, Tollerene collected $234,000 for his runner-up finish, and now boasts almost $5 million in career earnings, to go with the $2,591,686 he has won playing tournaments online under the screen name Bttech86.
Final Table Results:
